Berhembusnya kabar perihal bakal diblokirnya pengguna Windows 10 yang memakai game dan software bajakan ini tiba-tiba mencuat begitu saja. Namun benarkah demikian?

Berawal dari Microsoft Service Agreement

Semuanya berawal dari Microsoft Service Agreement yang baru, dengan bunyi:

We may automatically check your version of the software and download software updates or configuration changes, including those that prevent you from accessing the Services, playing counterfeit games, or using unauthorized hardware peripheral devices.

Artinya Microsoft mungkin akan secara otomatis melaksanakan pengecekan versi software, mendownload update software, serta perubahan konfirgurasi — termasuk juga mencegah kau mengakses layanan, memainkan game bajakan, atau memakai hardware yang tidak terotorisasi.

Berasal dari Xbox Live Terms of Use

Sebenarnya poin tersebut sudah usang ada di Xbox Live Terms of Use, yang berbunyi:

“We may, among other things: (i) restrict or limit access to the Services; (ii) retrieve information from the Authorized Device and any connected peripheral device used to log onto the Services as necessary to operate and protect the security of the Services, and to enforce this Agreement; and (iii) upgrade, modify, withdraw, suspend, or discontinue any functionality or feature of the Services, or any hardware or software associated with the Services or with an Authorized Device, from time to time without notice. We may do so by the automatic download of related software directly to your Authorized Device, including software that prevents you from accessing the Services, playing pirated games, or using unauthorized hardware peripheral devices.”

Karena “Windows One”

Nah kemungkinan alasannya ialah kini Windows 10 dapat dijalankan ke seluruh jenis device, dari PC, tablet, laptop, smartphone, Xbox, bahkan Hololens (Windows One), maka term of use tersebut akibatnya disatukan juga di Microsoft Service Agreement.
Namun yang belum kita tahu adalah, apakah ketentuan ini hanya akan berlaku di Windows 10 untuk Xbox One, atau seluruh Windows 10 — termasuk di PC, tablet, laptop, dan smartphone?
Satu hal yang pasti, penggunaan game dan software bajakan memang tidak dapat dibenarkan — meskipun hal itu seolah sudah menjadi “budaya” yang sulit diberantas di negara kita.
